Saucy punk-rap queen walks it like she talks it
Concetta Kirshner surfs the line between dirty, flirty, X-rated East Village junk-trash hip hop and full-on conceptual art piss-take. And it works, largely because she is clearly in love with the lascivious rhymes and libidinous grooves of old-skool rap, not simply hitching a juiced-up ride on them. Aided by downtown scenesters Jon Spencer and Prince Paul, Kirshner lays down hilarious dominatrix lines about getting paid and getting laid. One track is simply called "NYC C***" while "I Hope I Sell A Lot Of Records At Christmastime" begins "Yo Santa! Let's get something clear—I'm half Jewish." Kool Keith even appears in an ace Chris Morris-style guerrilla interview as Kirshner tries to persuade him to bare his arse on her album sleeve. But Ms. Superstar is clearly serious behind her heroically punky amateurism.

Shambolic, slutty and cool as fuck.
