‘Everyone is obsessed with being cool at the moment! Though nobody really wants to call it ‘Electroclash’ anymore, you can get away with calling it Electro,’ says Princess Superstar of her sound. We’ll try New-wave hip-hop, but whatever it is Princess Superstar does she does it B-I-G on her upcoming album My Machine, which combines her glam-nasty rap-ability with production from Todd Terry and Armand Van Helden. No stranger to the polysexual nature of the electro scene, nagnagnag lovin’ Princess didn’t rule-out the possibility of a future rhyme specifically for her gay fans at the request of axm! ‘Well, never say never, I would be nowhere without my gay team!’ We can only salute her loyalty. We also had time to ask her if she will be visiting fellow she-rapper Lil’ Kim in jail. ‘Most definitely. I’ll be bringing her some nails, she’ll be needing those.’

The first single from the album is dance track Perfect. In the video Superstar is carried around by greased-up male models, whilst waxing her legs with hundred dollar bills. Her live plans promise a visual spectacle including a huge screen with a pre-recorded show of the Superstar clones, or ‘duplicates’ following their leader across the stage. Princess is ready to take over the world with her blinding originality, yet there is one small problem in that she’s chosen to do it with a 25-track epic. A laughing Princess explains ‘You can tell I’m ambivalent about fame, I’m like I really want this so I’ll make it as difficult as possible! It’s like I say to my clones, if I’m not famous now I’ll be famous in 2080!’ ‘My Machine’ is out September 14 th through K7 Records, single ‘Perfect’ out now.
